The Museum of Education and Pedagogy was founded in 1970 in Bratislava as a national specialized workplace of the Ministry of Education. The museum collects material related to the history of schooling system from 16th to 20th century. In its depositories it stores more than 30 000 pieces of school artifacts.
The collections consist mostly of textbooks and books on pedagogical topics; manuscripts, certificates, student records, notebooks,
drawings; school furniture represented by inventories of classrooms or cabinets; teaching equipment, photos, films and other picture material.
The Museum strives to preserve these collections which are witnesses of the events, institutions and personalities of the schooling system ranging from the pre-school facilities up to the universities.Visitors may see our collections in exhibits, or by research appointments in our reading room. The museum offers also programs and workshops to empower students, teachers and other audiences to understand how and why the past is still relevant. We invite you to come and see for yourself!
